The length of this comprehensive program consist of at least 450 hours of instruction, labs and practical skills covering First Aid, CPR, AED, Family and General Caregiving Skills, Babysitter's Training, Lifeguard Training, Bloodborne Pathogens, Infection Control and Hygiene, HIPPA, Safety Protocols & Equipment Use, Rescue Breathing, Taking Vital Signs, Communication, ethics and decision making under pressure, Emergency Response, Nutrition, Healthy habits and prevention of disease, human development, infant care and safety techniques for the care giver.
Successful completion allows students in middle school completing a program of study in Health Sciences, Teacher Education/Early Childhood and Culinary Arts, and other appropriate programs to become certified as a Medical Safety Assistant. This certification is aligned with the Emergency Medical Responder Program (Program Number 8417170) for secondary students in high school.
